Whiz Bang, A History of Sound was a sound and visual installation by Impossible Theatre at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in the fall of 1983. It was an early example of music using sampled sounds done with a Synclavier developed by New England Digital. The piece imagined the history of sound from the beginning of time to the end of time and in particular the impact of the industrial revolution on our current soundscape. On October 6, 1983, All Things Considered interviewed me about the technology I used to create the soundtrack for this installation.
