With two weeks off at the end of a trying year, I decided to completely put work aside and make an ambient album for my own tranquility. A few days in, I was unhappy with everything I was making and had that feeling of having no idea what I was doing. I put the music aside for a handful of days and on Christmas Eve made something that felt delicate and beautiful. For the next week I came up with a lot more music, some of which felt steeped in my love of guitar music, and then some that felt more like playing in the clouds. My main tools were Logic Pro, Native Instruments, Spitfire software instruments,
I took the photograph at Gravelly Point, a park adjacent to National Airport. I used my infrared converted Sony NEX5T. Infrared is my latest photo passion. It allows me to see the world in new ways and has a very fun, though time-consuming bit of post-processing that feels similar to creating electronic music.
